Event Details The three-day event will provide a comprehensive farm-to-fork pork education taught by food industry thought leaders, pork producers, pork experts, and well-known chefs from across the country. The event will also give attendees an opportunity to network with their peers and interact with trade media. The Summit will open with a panel discussion on the University of Iowa campus on today’s food culture: how consumer habits and demands are evolving, what trends are on the horizon. Afterwards, the group will head to Big Grove Brewery Taproom for a welcome dinner highlighted by pork-centric street food in the outdoor beer-garden. The next day will take attendees through a Pork 101 education, including breeds, production, animal care, the chemical conversion of muscle to meat, and the opportunity to acquire first-hand knowledge of production by touring Brenneman Pork Farms, hearing the family’s story and enjoying lunch on the farm. Culinary experts will be on hand to walk professional chef attendees through advanced Pork cooking techniques and trends. We’ll wrap up the night at Rapid Creek Cidery, a mammoth century-old, gable-roofed barn amongst the apple trees in picturesque Wilson’s Orchard. Tasting house-crafted ciders paired with charcuterie from La Quercia and dishes from Chef Matt Steigerwald’s curated pantry of local and seasonal Iowa ingredients. The American Culinary Federation announces the USA Culinary Youth Team for 2020 Johnson County Community College students and their coach Eddie Adel to be held February 2020 in Stuttgart, Germany. We are pleased to announce our first Fundraiser. A special event showcasing two high profile Kansas City chefs on Saturday, June 23rd 2018, 7.00 pm at The American Restaurant. New Zealand Dinner with Visiting Chef Graham Brown Friday, April 20, 2018 from 7- 9 pm We would like to invite you to help us welcome international Visiting Chef Graham Brown to campus. As the Executive Chef of Cervena of New Zealand, Chef Brown travels the world promoting the virtues and superior quality of the premium New Zealand farmed venison to chefs and consumers through educational demonstrations at top culinary schools, participation in top food shows and events worldwide, and demonstrating his favorite preparations of the distinctive meat on television for the home cook. In addition, Chef Brown advises Cervena on marketing programs and promotions and creates new recipes for the varied cuts of Cervena venison. This talented New Zealand-based chef, will be flying in specifically to work with our culinary students, teaching them to use ingredients native to his home country of New Zealand, and host this tasty dinner for our Friends with Taste to enjoy. Chef Instructor Edward Adel and the culinary competition team will be working with Chef Brown to prepare a delicious 5-course dinner that will be served with wines from New Zealand. Tasty Expo is a unique food show experience that will be held in Kansas City, May 18-20th 2018 at the Overland Park Convention Center, 6000-60001 College Blvd., Leawood, KS 66211. Cost is $15. This is a hybrid trade show and consumer tasting show. Purchase Tickets Here Friday, May 18 This first day will be dedicated to the food and beverage industry. After everyone is moved in, that evening we will host a networking event for our exhibitors with a live band and complimentary food and beverage. It will be a great casual way for exhibitors to make connections to further grow their companies and reach their future marketing goals. Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20 The rest of the weekend will be open to consumers for food and beverage sampling and product sales. There will be plenty of interactive activities for the consumers including a barbecue contest sanctioned by the Kansas City BBQ Society, a food stage with cooking demos and educational speakers and a beverage stage with presentations from local Mixologists, Sommeliers and Cicerones. This is a great opportunity to get your products in the mouths of 20,000 consumers.
